1. Add the code to Ghost
- Start your 30-day trial and add your website’s address. Under Settings › Tracking Code Snippet, click Copy snippet.
- In Ghost, go to Settings › Code injection and paste it into Site header. Click Save.
- Back on ReaderCount, click Verify snippet installation. Your first visit shows within a minute.
Ghost doesn’t let apps add code to your site for you, so this is the one step you do yourself. It works on Ghost(Pro) and on Ghost you run yourself.
2. Connect Ghost
Connecting is optional, and it adds the things only Ghost knows:
- Post titles: Top pages shows each post’s title, not just its address.
- New posts on the chart: each post is marked on the day it went out, so you can see what it did for your traffic.
- Straight away: Ghost tells us the moment you publish, and we read your posts again every night to pick up new titles.
- In Ghost, go to Settings › Integrations › Add custom integration and call it ReaderCount.
- On your ReaderCount stats page, open Settings › Ghost and click Connect Ghost.
- Copy the integration’s API URL and Admin API key into the two boxes and click Connect Ghost.

Questions
What can ReaderCount do with my Ghost key?
We use it to read your published posts’ titles, addresses and dates, and to add one webhook so Ghost tells us when you publish. We never read your members or drafts, and we keep the key encrypted. Disconnect at any time and we remove our webhook from Ghost; you can then delete the integration in Ghost too.
Does it work with Ghost’s own analytics?
Yes. ReaderCount runs alongside Ghost’s member stats and any other analytics you use. Both can stay on while you compare.
Do I need a ReaderCount plan?
Connecting Ghost costs nothing extra. ReaderCount starts with a 30-day trial and then costs from £9 a month. See plans and prices.
