What you get
The Found by AI card sits next to your sources on your stats page. It gathers every reader who arrived from an AI tool into one place, so you can see at a glance whether AI is becoming a source of readers for you.
- Readers from AI tools in the dates you choose, with the change on the period before
- Their share of all your visitors
- A small daily chart, so you can see a trend building
- Each AI tool by name, with its share and visitors
- The pages they were sent to, so you know which posts AI tools point people at
- No setup. It works from the visits ReaderCount already counts, back to the day you started
Reading the card

The summary
At the top: how many visitors came from AI tools in the dates you chose, the change against the same number of days before (green when it’s up), and what share of all your visitors that is. The bars beside it show each day, and you can point at a bar for that day’s figure.
AI services
Each AI tool that sent you readers, with its share of your AI readers and the number of visitors. Click one and your whole stats page filters to it, so you can see which pages ChatGPT readers go on to read, which countries they’re in, or whether they sign up.
Pages
The pages AI tools sent readers to, busiest first, up to 20. These are the posts AI tools trust enough to link to. Click the arrow to open a page on your website.

A visit from an AI tool that isn’t on this list still shows on your sources card under its own address.
What is and isn’t counted
Counted: a person who clicks a link to your website in an AI tool’s answer, and whose browser says where they came from.
Not counted here:
- AI crawlers reading your pages. The bots that fetch pages for AI tools aren’t readers, so they’re left out of your stats like other bots. See how fake traffic is filtered.
- Answers that use your post without linking to it. If nobody clicks through, there’s no visit to count.
- Clicks from apps that don’t say where they came from. Some apps open links without passing that on, and those readers show as Direct. So the card shows the readers we can be sure of, and the real number can be higher.
Ways to use it
- See which posts AI tools trust. The Pages tab shows the posts AI answers link to. Keep them up to date: an AI tool can only recommend what’s still right.
- Compare AI with Google. Filter by ChatGPT, then by Google, and compare time on page and bounce rate.
- Spot a trend early. The daily bars show when AI readers start to grow, often before it shows in your total.
- Check your goals. Filter by an AI tool and look at the Goals card to see whether those readers subscribe or buy.
The fine detail
| Visitors | Counted per day, like the rest of ReaderCount: someone who comes back from ChatGPT on two days counts twice. |
| Change | Compared with the same number of days just before the dates you chose. |
| Filters | The card follows the filters on your stats page, such as a country or device. |
| Public stats page | If you share a public stats page, the card only shows there once you have AI readers in the dates shown. |
| Privacy | No cookies, and nothing about the reader is passed to or from the AI tool. |
| Plans | Included on every plan and in the 30-day trial. See plans and prices. |
Questions
Do I need to change anything on my website?
No. If ReaderCount is counting your website, Found by AI already works, including for visits since the day you started.
Does this show when ChatGPT reads my pages?
No. It counts readers who click through to you. AI crawlers that read your pages are bots and are left out of your stats.
Why do I have no AI readers?
AI tools only link to some pages, and many answers have no links at all. Some apps also hide where a click came from, so those readers show as Direct.
Can I see the question someone asked the AI tool?
No. AI tools don’t pass on what the person asked, and ReaderCount wouldn’t keep it if they did. You see the tool and the page it sent them to.
Is Found by AI included in my plan?
Yes. It’s part of every ReaderCount plan and the 30-day trial.
